Power Management Mode: I'd actually recommend against "Maximum Performance" if you have a very hot power hungry Nvidia GPU model (1080Ti, 2080Ti, 3080/Ti/3090, etc). This is a really, really old guide but one that users here may find worth reading, as most explanations there still apply today (if biased towards personal opinion of the author), even though the GPUs are way(!!) more potent today if compared to those at the time it was written: I'd say better leave those at default settings, though of course that is open to personal preference. It was the case before DCS adopted EDGE graphics engine (prior to 2015, when that setting made sense for it) but not anymore or since.ĪA Gamma Correction at "OFF", Texture Filtering Quality at "Performance" and Negative Lod Bias at "Clamp", are of negligible effect (if any, at all) in performance for DCS, likely at detrimental cost of image quality. Something that is only welcome for games that are very old and/or really CPU limited (with the GPU very underutilized), when a few stutters and drops happen for that reason, not being demanding enough for the graphics card to be in the highest power state (just on the threshold of 60 fps in the lower states). What the "Maximum Performance" does is making your GPU force/increase a higher power state (as to not downclock as often). "Optimal Performance" is the prefered/recommended option (and why is set by default) for graphics intensive games, which as of today includes DCS World. Power Management Mode: I'd recommend against "Maximum Performance", especially if with a very hot power hungry Nvidia GPU model (1080Ti, 2080Ti, 3080/Ti/3090, etc). Just a heads up regarding some of those settings. here are screen shots in case it helps anyone. i went through my specific DCS settings and made the changes to match what i could. i went through settings video, and even some shown were different. Judging from Reddit it doesn't seem like they have much luck with any solutions aside from switching boards.I noticed that when i updated my drivers to 511.23, there were some settings differences. I think you are right, there are certain motherboard models (both AMD and Intel) that seem to have abnormally common problems with crashing Ada at Optimal power. I'm at about 10W on two screens, and something like 5-7W on one screen, and Optimal power/Max perf makes no difference. In any case, if 30W is not bad enough to interfere with fan stop, is it something you could live with? imo it's not horrible, though definitely high for a single 1440p monitor. High mem clock is normal for Max perf or 3D load and accounts for most of the 30W of Max perf idle. DDU has not exactly been impressive in recent years, maybe drivers have gotten too complicated.Īre you sure about core clock? 2500MHz core clock would not be that low in board power. Going 3070 Ti > 7900XT I had to clean install to solve some issues, and going 7900XT > 4070 Ti I did clean install to save the trouble. With "Prefer Max Perf" at idle my GPU has: Volt 0.9, Utilization 0%, Pwr 32W, Mem Clock11201 Mhz, GPU Clock 2505 Mhz, Fan Speed 0 or 1029 rpm. If that not helps, get us back and we will go with another steps good luck If you are not using all nVidia bundled features, I strongly recommend NVCleanstall for installing drivers (or components) of your liking. installed nVidia GPU drivers and rebooted booted normally into OS and still without Internet connection (so the Windows update will not install its own GPU drivers) cleaned nVidia drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller rebooted and booted Windows 10 OS into safe mode (press and hold left Shift button and restart your PC holding shift) downloaded the latest nVidia drivers from the nVidia site and after download, DISCONNECT PC from the Internet (switch off WiFi or pull out LAN cable) downloaded DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) I had zero-fans issue with mine RTX 4080 so I did next steps and it helped: And which messages do you get in Event Viewer logs? If it is event ID 41 Kernel-Power, it could be PSU also in equation.īut first and easies step, please try reinstalling the drivers the right way
